kybun Joya Opens in Munich’s Theatinerstraße

Swiss Health Expertise Meets Modern Store Design

With its new store in Theatinerstraße, kybun Joya brings a holistic concept for healthy walking and standing to one of Munich’s most prestigious downtown locations. The focus is not only on the innovative health shoes from the Swiss brands kybun and Joya, but also on a thoughtfully designed retail environment that makes values such as origin, naturalness, and well-being tangible.

Gruschwitz GmbH, based in Munich, was responsible for interior architecture, concept design, planning, implementation, and project management.

The store targets health-conscious individuals with an active lifestyle - particularly those who spend long hours walking or standing and are specifically seeking solutions for conditions such as heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, and back, knee, or foot pain. At the same time, the offering appeals to style-conscious customers who want to combine comfort with design.

At the heart of the product range are the so-called “Swiss Health Shoes” by kybun and Joya. The assortment is complemented by seasonal models from the brand
Kandahar 1932, as well as ergonomic products such as anti-fatigue mats, seat cushions, and fascial releasers. Together, they aim to promote movement and provide lasting physical relief.

The store concept deliberately reflects Swiss values and translates them into a modern, warm spatial design. Natural materials such as wood and felt define the interior, creating an authentic atmosphere. Felt serves as a subtle reference to traditional Swiss wool felt, while a striking product wall featuring a Matterhorn motif visually highlights the Swiss origin of the kybun brand.

The design language combines clean lines with high-quality materials, complemented by softer, slightly playful felt elements. This creates a harmonious overall impression that blends premium aesthetics with an approachable, human touch.

The store is structured into several zones: The front area focuses on the presentation of kybun and Joya collections. The central area is dedicated to brand heritage and origin - including information about production as well as seasonal Kandahar 1932 models. The rear area features a walking track for product testing, complemented by an outlet section and a large screen for events.

Flexible spaces in the central and rear areas can also be used for events. An integrated lounge with a coffee bar in the heritage area invites visitors to relax and underlines the holistic concept.

Special highlights include custom-designed presentation elements such as a feature table with felt details and matching pendant lighting, as well as the distinctive checkout backdrop made of milled birch multiplex. The design is further complemented by a metal grid structure used as an informational wall about shoe production and a characteristic two-tone seating bench.

The store layout is deliberately open: the entire space is visible from the entrance, allowing for intuitive orientation. Emotional appeal is created through the combination of natural materials, warm color tones, and imagery showing people in motion.

Digital elements such as screens and touchpoints connect the physical store with digital content. Sustainability is reflected, among other things, in the use of carpeting made from recycled PET.

Visual merchandising follows a clear concept: each shoe is presented individually, complemented by curated highlight displays and eye-catching window installations.

With its new location in Munich, kybun Joya creates a space where health, design, and Swiss brand values merge into a cohesive retail experience.
