We are proud to announce that our project "Showroom hajo Mode Bavaria, Weiden" has been nominated for the EuroShop Retail Design Award 2026.
The newly realised 130-square-metre showroom at hajo strick GmbH's headquarters in Weiden stands as a contemporary space for fashion, brand, and encounter. With a clear design concept, high-quality materials, and a sustainable planning approach, the project embodies the essence of hajo's identity: Fashion meets lifestyle.
Before the official award announcement on December 1st, we take a closer look at the concept and creative vision behind the showroom - as shared in the project interview below.
New hajo mode Showroom at the Company Headquarters in Weiden, Bavaria:
1) What do you believe are the special characteristics for which the store you have selected especially merits the award? Please describe the basic outline of the planning and the overall concept. What was the mission or objective? A Space for Fashion, Brand, and EncounterWith an impressive new showroom, hajo strick GmbH is making a clear statement for contemporary brand staging at its headquarters in Weiden, Bavaria. In just four weeks, a 130-square-metre retail space was created-an environment where fashion becomes a tangible experience: high-quality, understated, and atmospheric.A Branded Experience with a Clear Signature
As one of Germany's leading manufacturers of men's polo shirts and official sponsor of the German Polo Tour since 2016, hajo stands for commercially successful fashion with a distinctive profile. The new showroom was conceived as a stand-alone solution, yet offers great potential for expansion to additional locations.
Gruschwitz GmbH, based in Munich, was responsible for the concept, planning, execution, and project management. The design deliberately embraces restraint to place the spotlight on the product range: premium women's and men's fashion with a focus on knitwear, trousers, and polo shirts. The space is clearly zoned-women's fashion under the theme "Joy of Life", men's fashion grouped under "hajo, Polo & Sportswear".
The premium label TOM RIPLEY, with its collections made in Italy, represents excellent quality as well as fair and sustainable production. Positioned centrally in the room, the brand is showcased in a striking gondola featuring its signature pattern. Set beneath a transparent ceiling, this installation forms the visual centrepiece of the octagonal layout-a defining highlight of the space.2) Please describe the material and colour concept..: Design Language and Materials with Substance
The suspended ceiling echoes the octagonal silhouette of the building and is structured with a delicate mesh fabric, creating an effect of transparency and lightness. A graphic-patterned carpet creates a striking design accent at the centre and emphasises the architectural geometry. Subtle greige tones combined with a soft blue-green and defined contours provide a harmonious backdrop that keeps the focus on the merchandise.
Large-format terrazzo tiles, bronze steel signage, and walls finished with Terrastone plaster lend the space a refined and sophisticated atmosphere. The interior concept is complemented by furniture made of black-stained natural wood with steel tubing, fabric curtains for shading, as well as three sales tables and a large, hierarchy-free meeting table in the rear area. All elements are mobile and adaptable for purposes such as training sessions.3) Describe the special features of your project (design elements, integration of technical elements, staging at the POS, visual merchandising, etc.): Sustainable. Refined. Thoughtfully Designed.
The project impresses both aesthetically and functionally through its consistent use of sustainable materials. Environmentally conscious choices include recycled carpet flooring (Cradle-to-Cradle certified) and an intelligently engineered ceiling structure that eliminates the need for additional support systems. Flexible LED spotlights ensure precise lighting throughout the space.
The reception area also reflects the project's blend of style and experience: a high-quality ceramic counter and a sleek designer coffee machine underscore the guiding philosophy - fashion meets lifestyle.4) What challenges were there and how were they overcome?
